The impressa F50 has a streamlined silver and black ABS plastic housing that is balanced with control panel buttons in alternating colors; the two center buttons are silver against the black housing, and the surrounding buttons, which rest against silver housing, are black. Sitting above these buttons is an LED screen that features an easily readable red-on-black display. The black portion of the front panel gives way to chrome plated coffee spouts that can create space for cups up to 4 ¼ inches in height, and to accommodate larger frothing pitchers, the Dual Frother Plus (used for dispensing hot water and steam) is swivel mounted on the right silver panel. A removable 64 oz water reservoir, also in black, comprises the left side of the machine, similar to the 8 oz bean hopper that takes up the right and houses a grind fineness knob that gives you 6 fineness settings.

The impressa F50 digital system provides easy access to every option available, temperature control, adjustable liquid dosing (between 1 and 16 oz), and auto-on, with clearly marked buttons, control knobs, and a straightforward LED display.  Includes pre-programmed rinse, cleaning, and decalcification cycles, reducing monthly maintenance to the push of a button.

The reservoir also holds a Clearyl Water Filtration System, which filters calcium and other minerals out of the water before it reaches the internal portions of the machine, and will eliminate decalcifying if used properly.

The F50 comes with a Clearyl water filter, cleaning tablet, a water hardness test strip, a 7 gram coffee scoop.
