Couscoussier or Couscous Stock Pots -
is a traditional steaming
and cooking pot used in the preparation of a Moroccan dish called
couscous, also known as a couscoussiére.
Couscous generally refers to semolina or ground wheat that is steamed in
the top part, which obviously has holes in its base, and to lamb, beef or
other foods cooked in a type of stew in the bottom container. Couscous
plates and dishes are made with flavored stocks, herbs, and spices, and
with vegetables, dried fruits, nuts, and/or meat added or used as a
topping. All of our 8 models are made of a

Appropriate for all types of stoves.
Helpful tips:
- Be sure to identify which
type of couscous you have purchased instant or traditional.
- Couscous may also be cooked like rice. Heat butter, add couscous
and stir to coat, add stock, bring to a boil, reduce heat to lowest
setting, cover and cook (no peeking!) until liquid is absorbed. Fluff to
separate.
- When using the long classic method of steaming couscous, covering the
pot is not recommended as the condensation can drip onto the grains and
make the couscous mushy.
- To double or triple the volume of instant couscous, avoid the hot water
method given on the box and take the time to slowly steam it.
- There
are many couscous recipes on the web. Or you can use our beautiful
couscous stock pot and steamer set for simple steaming and cooking your favorite
foods.
- It is not usually necessary to use cheese cloth to keep
the couscous from falling into the stew.
- Begin cooking the stew in the bottom pot, then place the steamer on top,
with the couscous already in the top pot.
- Generally, use a pound of
couscous for each quart of water.
